As the situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) rapidly evolves and the Coastal Georgia community adjusts to teaching and learning in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, course modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online) and course requirements (assignments, deadlines) are all subject to change. As part of the College&rsqou;s commitment to student success, whenever transition occurs, students can expect their instructors will:
Effective July 15, 2020, University System of Georgia (USG) institutions will require all faculty, staff, students, and visitors to wear an appropriate face covering while inside campus facilities/buildings where six feet social distancing may not always be possible. Face covering use will be in addition to and is not a substitute for social distancing. Anyone not using a face covering when required will be asked to wear one or must leave the area. Repeated refusal to comply with the requirement may result in discipline through the applicable conduct code for faculty, staff or students. Reasonable accommodations may be made for those who are unable to wear a face covering for documented health reasons. Per CDC guidelines, face coverings should cover both the nose and mouth.
If you have a fever, sore throat, cough, and/or other signs of COVID-19 illness as defined by the CDC, please do not attend class and we strongly encourage you to follow Glynn County Department of Public Health recommendations for getting tested for COVID-19. If at any point you will not be able to participate in class activities (face-to-face or online), check the course syllabus as well as D2L and then contact your instructors so that they can work with you to support your success for this semester. Testing for COVID-19 is available free of charge through the Glynn County Department of Public Health. If you have tested positive for COVID-19, please immediately inform the Dean of Students, Dr. Michael Butcher (mbutcher@ccga.edu).
Students will be held responsible for any changes to the course modality and course requirements. In particular, students should be familiar with D2L and have access to the required technology, as listed in the syllabus (for example, many instructors will require the use of Respondus Lockdown Browser in online courses, and Chromebooks are not compatible with that software). If you do not have the necessary technology, please submit an electronic request to Technology Services as soon as possible (during the first week of class) to ensure you will be prepared. Note that computers in the library, especially those with webcams and microphones, are limited. Student absences or the inability to attend class due to COVID-19 or other reasons do not excuse students from completing all course requirements. If you are unable to complete a course due to COVID-19, you should consult the College Catalog (“Academic Regulations” section) regarding procedures for requesting a late-term withdraw or an incomplete. Please note that for classes graded on an A – F scale, the instructor does not have the ability to change the grading scheme to pass/fail.
